But I’m basically a mechanic now.
Got some stuff to swap my winter wheels and tires. I know I'm pretty late to the party, but it's a start. I've always had other people do almost everything, and I don't have a garage, but this is a start!

Nope sorry, you need a rattle gun to qualify

Hey, I said it's a start. Twice in the post, now thrice. I think this counts haha

Where are your jack stands?!? It’s not a start without jack stands!

I’m planning to use the drive-on lift at the Auto Skills Center nearby. But I have some stands in my Amazon wish list! Does that count?

I wish I had gotten the alum jack insteadof the heavy-ass steel jack!

FOUR??? Ridiculous, I'll not be jerked around like this. Psh.... Four.

No I don’t.

It is oddly very highly recommended. I thought harbor freight would be a no-go for something like this but friends and even guys on Porsche forums all raved.

Mechanics don’t take those wheels off;
technicians
do.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting it’s Porsche Gold Certified Technician .
Well, plus I’m an engineer anyway.

Have one and it works perfect, especially if you know what each moving part is supposed to sound.

I had that jack and liked it. Had to leave it in Texas because I didn’t have room to take it and shipping it wasn’t worthwhile, especially since it’s probably underrated for my current car (in theory it’s fine since I’m not lifting the entire car, but I’m cautious about stuff supporting the car). Someone at my apartment building got a nice jack/stands though .

I only have a Cayman lol I figure the next time I move is the first time I'll have enough to actually need a moving truck. But, at least this jack fits nicely in the trunk!

Me too! Except I'm an ocean engineer so I have no idea what to do until the Cayman swerves into a lake.

I am both an automotive and computer engineer.
This means I exist in a binary state of either complete befuddlement or a stream of obscenities.
Oh, who are we kidding? It’s always both.

It takes me about that long to declare I’m going to change my wheels, then get a beer from the fridge. It’s not even opened yet and they’re done.

You know, I bought a cheap generic tool set (you know, one of the plastic cases with 237 pieces, 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4 drive sockets, etc.) from Home Depot on a road trip out of necessity... 11 years ago. I still have it and I still use it all the time, it’s my go-to tool kit. Not all cheap stuff is garbage.

Yup I got one of those. Husky. A must-have for apartment dwellers I think.
